Austria's Federal Ministry for European and International Affairs provides official guidance on the Entry/Exit System and ETIAS for people traveling to Austria and the Schengen Area.
EES concerns third-country nationals traveling for short stays of up to 90 days in any 180-day period. Travelers may be asked to provide biometric data at the external Schengen border, while holders of certain residence permits or long-stay visas follow different rules.
ETIAS is a separate future travel authorization for visa-exempt travelers. Neither system changes the underlying visa or work-permission rules, so travelers should first confirm whether their passport requires a Schengen visa.
