Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada announced new rules on February 12, 2025, with the regulatory changes effective January 31, 2025.
The rules allow officers to cancel a temporary resident visa, eTA, work permit or study permit in individual cases. Grounds can include a change in circumstances, a finding that the person is unlikely to leave Canada as required, inadmissibility, false information or a lost or stolen document.
Holding a visa or eTA does not guarantee boarding or entry. Travelers should keep their identity documents, travel purpose and supporting information current and should review the conditions that apply to their specific document.
