Italy's Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced a new airport transit visa requirement for nationals of Tajikistan and Uzbekistan traveling through Italian airports.
The requirement applies from February 1, 2025. Exemptions listed under the EU Visa Code may still apply to particular travelers and documents.
An airport transit visa only permits the traveler to remain in the international transit area. It does not authorize entry into Italy or the Schengen Area, so travelers continuing into the Schengen Area must also meet the relevant entry or visa requirements.
